“We don’t speak anymore, and I don’t want to live with regret. I’m ready to do something, but I don’t know where to start.”
Does it sound like your inner dialogue?
clarity for unresolved relationship
“Beyond hope and despair is clarity.”
— Margaret Wheatley
“The heart that breaks open can contain the whole universe”
— Joanna Macy
We live with these relationships for years before reaching a point where we recognize the cost of continued avoidance; we feel ready to act, but are unsure where to begin or what we hope to achieve.
Whether you are older adults whose children have stopped speaking to you, or who have a long-running rift with a sibling, an incident that has never been addressed, or a special someone in your life that is no longer in communication, there is always a way to face the relationship with honesty and dignity.
In these online individual sessions we use expressive arts therapy approaches to explore this unresolved relationship at stake. Through guided creative process with reflective dialogue, we get clarity on what you feel, what you might be afraid of, and what do you actually need. For some, the work might be grieving a lost relationship, or a relationship that can’t be what we hoped.
We also consider the other person’s perspective and the options available to you. The goal is to bring clarity about what you want, and to identify a first step you can live with: Whether that is initiating contact, preparing for a difficult conversation, setting a boundary, or finding peace with the relationship as it is. If the other person is truly unreachable, or in situations where contact would be harmful, the work serves as finding an acceptable closure.
This work does not presume or promise reconciliation. It supports you in responding to the situation in a way that is consistent with your values, regardless of how others respond.
